NBA basketball will be a staple of cable, local and network television from Friday until mid-June.
In a first, all Laker home and road regular season games will be telecast. Prime Ticket will show 39 of the 41 home games, with KCAL presenting 36 of the 41 road games. The remaining seven games will be on NBC. Prime Ticket, KCAL and NBC will also televise all Laker Playoff games.
Prime Ticket will also carry 20-30 Clippers games, beginning with Friday’s season opener against the Sacramento Kings at the Sports Arena. KTLA’s 25-game Clipper package tips off Nov. 7 with the two-time defending champion Detroit Pistons visiting the Sports Arena.
NBC will be the NBA’s broadcast network home for at least the next four season. The network will carry 22 regular games this season, plus the All-Star Game, and the NBA playoffs ant Finals.
TNT will air 50 regular season games, plus playoff telecasts. The network’s coverage begins at 5 p.m. Friday with the Chicago Bulls playing host to the Philadelphia 76ers followed by a Phoenix Suns-Utah Jazz game from Tokyo.
Super stations will also get in the act with WGN carrying 20 Chicago Bulls games, TBS 20 Atlanta Hawks games and WWOR six New Jersey Nets games.
