NBA : Spurs Trade Ex-Laker McNamara to the Magic

The Orlando Magic traded forward Sidney Green to San Antonio Tuesday for center Mark McNamara and the Spurs’ 1991 first-round pick.

The Spurs acquired McNamara from the Lakers during the off-season. The 6-foot-11 center has averaged 3.6 points with four teams and also played in Italy in 1985-86.

Green, 29, was the Magic’s first selection in the 1989 expansion draft. He has averaged 8.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in seven seasons with the Chicago Bulls, the Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Orlando. He averaged 10.4 points and 8.1 rebounds in 73 games with the Magic last season.

Isiah Thomas had 11 of his 24 points during a 17-0 third-quarter run as the Detroit Pistons defeated the Houston Rockets, 113-104, in the annual Hall of Fame game at Springfield, Mass.

Thomas had two three-pointers during the run as Detroit expanded a 74-72 lead to 91-72 entering the fourth quarter.

Akeem Olajuwon, who led Houston with 23 points, fouled out with 2:29 left in the third quarter. He committed four fouls in the period.

Seattle SuperSonic guard Dale Ellis reported to serve a one-day jail sentence for drunk and reckless driving convictions.

Ellis served his time at the North End Rehabilitation Facility in Seattle, according to administrator Rose Soo Hoo.
