A Century City condominium that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dianne Feinstein shares with her husband has been burglarized, and about $3,000 in women’s jewelry has been reported stolen, Los Angeles police said today.

The break-in at the posh apartment on the 2100 block of Century Park Lane, just south of the Century City business area, was reported Oct. 30 by Feinstein’s financier husband, Richard Blum, after he realized that five necklaces and two earrings belonging to his wife were missing, according to Detective Gary Fullerton.

Feinstein and Blum live in San Francisco, but rented the condominium early in the primary campaign in order to have a place to stay on their frequent trips to Southern California.

The burglar or burglars broke in sometime between Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. and Oct. 27 at 10 p.m., and stole several expensive woman’s necklaces and earrings, according to information provided by Blum on a police report.

Feinstein’s name was not mentioned on the report.

Lt. Ron Hall said Blum noticed Saturday that someone had pried open a sliding glass door at the condominium “but didn’t attach any significance to it.”

But after taking inventory over the next three days, he realized that his wife’s jewelry was missing and called police.

Police have no suspects. They say the break-in appeared to be a routine burglary by thieves who sometimes target the upscale residential area just to the west of Beverly Hills.

“This is a very wealthy condo area . . . and (the apartments) are usually good targets, because people think they’ll find a lot of loot there,” Fullerton said.
