Phil Simms Finally Gets Credit He Deserves

Share

It was a joy to read Bob Oates’ story (Oct. 27) on Phil Simms. It does not matter what he has accomplished in 12 years; the New York and New Jersey media do not appreciate him. They tend to forget that for years Simms played behind a line as flimsy as a veil dancer’s costume, and his backs and receivers had hands and legs less functional that the four men on Mt. Rushmore, plus their heads were harder. This led to Simms’ being oft-injured and demeaned by all.

It’s a shame I had to wait 12 years and come 3,000 miles to finally see a positive note about the best Giant quarterback since Y.A. Tittle.
