L.A. Police Release Stanley Wilson
Stanley Wilson, former Cincinnati Bengal running back, was released Friday after Los Angeles police did not have evidence to charge him with robbery, a detective said.
Wilson, 28, was arrested Wednesday in Wilmington when officers recognized the car he was driving as one described by a victim of an Oct. 10 purse snatching.
Detective Chuck Hart of Harbor Division said the victim was unable to identify Wilson as the suspect.
Wilson told detectives his car might have been used in the robbery, but he did not know.
“He (Wilson) said he had lent his car to somebody, but he can’t remember who it was,” Hart said.
Wilson, 28, played at Banning High in Wilmington and at the University of Oklahoma.
Wilson, who lives in Wilmington, made national headlines when he was banned from the NFL for using cocaine the night before the 1989 Super Bowl.
