Prop. B Would Earmark $10 Million for SEA Land

Share

Proposition B on Tuesday’s ballot includes $10 million specifically for purchasing Significant Ecological Areas.

The $817-million bond proposal, known as the Safe Neighborhood Parks Act, earmarks the money to buy land in SEAs in the Santa Clarita and Antelope valleys.

Additional funds would probably be spent in SEAs in other areas, although dollar amounts are uncertain.

The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation together would receive about $100 million to buy parklands in areas with SEAs, including the Santa Monica Mountains, the proposed Santa Clarita Woodlands State Park, and the Rim of the Valley Corridor ringing the San Fernando Valley.

The measure has been endorsed by four of the five county supervisors, with only Pete Schabarum opposed.
