White Sox Split GM Duties Between Schueler, Monroe
The Chicago White Sox today named Oakland A’s chief scout Ron Schueler as senior vice president, saying he’ll share general manager duties with former Sox pitcher Larry Monroe.
Monroe, 34, will be vice president for scouting and minor-league operations.
Schueler, a former pitcher and pitching coach with the White Sox, replaces Larry Himes. Himes was ousted in September after less than three years as White Sox GM.
Monroe replaces Al Goldis, former director of scouting and player development who also left in September.
“The White Sox are joining other clubs who recognize that the duties of the traditional general manager are too broad and overwhelming,” Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf explained.
