WORLD IN BRIEF : IRAN : Quake Aid on Way; 12,000 Are Homeless

Search teams and relief aid were dispatched to remote sections of southern Iran, where an earthquake killed at least 22 villagers and left more than 12,000 homeless, Tehran Radio reported. The report said most of the victims were children less than 12 years old who were sleeping when the quake struck Tuesday evening. The radio said 100 people were seriously injured. The quake shook 18 villages around Darab, about 600 miles southeast of Tehran.
