Monterey Park : Meeting on Garvey Reservoir

Share

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California will meet Thursday with residents concerned about Garvey Reservoir, which was closed a year ago after water from leaks in the structure flooded a dozen homes in the city.

The MWD has proposed patching up the leaks, most likely caused by earthquakes and ground movement, and is preparing an environmental impact report before proceeding with repair work. Comments from the meeting will be used in the environmental review.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Hillcrest Elementary School, 795 Pepper St., Monterey Park. On Wednesday, the day before the water district-sponsored meeting, a city-appointed reservoir advisory council will meet at 7 p.m. in City Hall.
