West Covina : Senior Center Work OKd
The Cortez Park Seniors Center will get a $1.7-million face lift next year.
The City Council on Monday unanimously approved a 7,000-square-foot room addition, including a walkway and expansion of the kitchen and storage areas. A separate recreation center, built in 1940 in Cortez Park, will be torn down to make room for a parking area.
Federal money, including $1.3 million set aside from the Community Development Block Grant Program over the last five years, will pay for the expansion, said Gus Salazar, director of human services.
