An U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service inspector and two El Centro residents were arrested Friday, accused of conspiring to transport cocaine across the U.S. border at Calexico, authorities said.

Sergio Gonzalez, an eight-year veteran with the immigration service who worked at the Calexico border crossing; Josie Flores and Flores’ mother, Guadalupe, were arrested after they allegedly conspired to bring 30 kilograms of cocaine across the Imperial County checkpoint, FBI officials said.

The arrests culminated a three-month investigation in which FBI undercover agents met with the three several times to arrange for the transportation of cocaine into the United States, according to the agency.
