NHL ROUNDUP : Leetch’s Four Assists Power Rangers Past Jets

Share

It has been half a century since the New York Rangers won a Stanley Cup. With a month to go last season, they thought they had a great chance for their first title since 1940.

But their key player, defenseman Brian Leetch, suffered a broken leg and the Rangers’ hopes were dashed. But Leetch, 22, has come back better than ever and the Rangers are menacing once more.

Leetch had four assists Friday night at Winnipeg and the Rangers beat the Jets, 6-4. With 32 points, the Rangers have the most in the league and lead the Patrick Division by seven points.
