Holography Exhibit Shows Diverse Uses

Share

Holography is a method of utilizing laser light to create realistic appearing three-dimensional images. Over 200 holograms can be seen in “Images in Time and Space,” now in its new location in Pasadena.

Holograms from 17 nations are represented in the collection at the McKinley Library of the Pasadena Unified School District. Invented in 1947, these once rare images can now be found in everyday items such as credit cards.

The exhibit illustrates the history and development of holography, shows applications in fields as diverse as medicine and non-destructive testing, and offers various educational demonstrations and hands-on exhibits for children.
