An attorney for a newly formed investment group said his organization is bidding for a National League expansion baseball franchise for the Washington area.

Lawyer Bart Fisher said he said he would deliver a deposit and paperwork to league officials early next week.

The National League plans to award two expansion franchises next year for teams that would begin playing in 1993. The Fisher group’s team would play in the northern Virginia suburbs of the nation’s capital.
