Airplanes for Alarm Clocks

Share

How happy and excited those of us on the ground are when we contemplate the proposed expansion of the Burbank airport.

Now perhaps more lucky Valleyites will be awakened by early morning flight noises (forget your alarm clocks, folks), will be thrilled by the sight of the airlines swooping down for a landing, again and again and again, day and night, day after day (especially on Sunday). The thunder you hear overhead will provide relief from the tedium of once-quiet neighborhoods.

The thoughtful airport commissioners have provided that these flights do stop at night, at least before midnight, so that you can get your ZZZZs. Are these people considerate or what?

Of course, your property values may decrease, and it may be difficult to sell your house, but that’s life in the big city, isn’t it?

In return for the destruction of the tranquillity of our neighborhoods and possible monetary loss, what do we get? Zilch, nada, nothing. Not even a pair of earplugs.
