Coming-Out Party Ends Under a Cloud
NEWPORT BEACH —
A grand opening it wasn’t.
Owners of the new Barbacoa Restaurant, hosting a coming-out party for about 400 invited guests, had their Wednesday night celebration spoiled by a malfunctioning mesquite-burning barbecue grill, fire officials said.
Firefighters were called to the restaurant at 3333 W. Coast Highway about 4:30 p.m. after a vent to the grill closed and smoke clouded the dining area.
