ORANGE : Council Candidates to Be Interviewed
The City Council on Wednesday morning will interview candidates for a a vacant council seat and try to select a replacement that night.
If a majority of the council cannot agree on a candidate, a special election will be held March 5 to fill the seat vacated when Gene Beyer was elected mayor last month. The term has two years remaining.
Among the contenders for the spot are City Clerk Marilyn J. Jensen; Russell Barrios, vice president of the school board and aide to 4th District Supervisor Don R. Roth; planning commissioners Randy Bosch and William Cathcart, former Planning Commissioner David Hart and Robert Boice, a mayoral candidate this year.
Tom Saenz and Mike Spurgeon, both active members of various city committees, are also potential candidates.
The Wednesday session will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Weimer Room of City Hall. The evening meeting starts at 6 p.m. in council chambers.
