Freshman Lisa Leslie’s 20 points and 23 rebounds led No. 21 USC to a 68-54 victory over San Diego State Tuesday night at the Sports Arena.
Leslie’s rebounds fell one shy of the USC single-game record, set in 1984 by Cheryl Miller. The Trojans outrebounded San Diego State, 65-44.
Coming off its first loss of the season, USC (3-1) held San Diego State scoreless through the first 12:11 of the second half, building a 20-point lead. Joni Easterly scored three baskets during an 8-0 run to make it 53-33 with 7:49 remaining.
No. 11 Cal State Long Beach 106, Arizona 62--Penny Moore scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Long Beach at University Gym.
