Steve Shaw, who co-starred in the nighttime soap opera “Knots Landing” for eight years, has died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was 25.

A resident of Burbank, Shaw was killed Wednesday on Silver Lake Boulevard at Cove Avenue when his Porsche 911 slammed into a city dump truck. Police said the car crossed over the double yellow line on a curve and struck the truck head-on.

Shaw had played Eric Fairgate, the oldest of two sons of Karen Fairgate McKenzie, played by Michele Lee, from the show’s inception in 1979 until 1987, said “Knots Landing” producer Mary-Catherine Harold.

Shaw later appeared sporadically on the CBS series, including several episodes last year.

Since leaving the series, Shaw resided for a time in Lake Tahoe and had been living with his family since his father died of a heart attack about six months ago.

He is survived by his mother and grandparents.

Private services are planned.

Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service in Burbank is handling the arrangements.
