SHORT TAKES : ‘Ghost’ Scares Up $200 Million in Box Office Sales Since July

Romance-mystery “Ghost,” an unlikely hit in a year peppered with action-adventure films, has passed the $200-million mark in box-office sales, Paramount Pictures said Tuesday.
“Ghost,” which was released in July, has become the 11th-highest grossing film of all time at the domestic box office. As of Monday, its ticket sales had totaled $200,034,574.
“Ghost,” which stars Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, led the weekly box office four different times in its 22 weeks of release and never finished lower than eighth in weekly rankings.
Another romance, Disney’s “Pretty Woman,” was the second-biggest film this year, with $178.4 million in 36 weeks of release. New Line’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” was third at $133.1 million.
