World IN BRIEF : WORLDWIDE : Holocaust Article Stirs Harsh Words
The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva had harsh words for an article in a magazine associated with the Palestine Liberation Organization that endorsed the view that the Holocaust never happened. Cornelio Sommaruga said that the article in Balsam, the magazine of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, does “not conform to the principles of the (Red Cross) movement.” But he said it is up to member nations, not the committee, to determine whether to take any action against the humanitarian arm of the PLO.
