A crash involving at least 10 vehicles, including two Greyhound buses, on a highway shrouded by a severe desert sandstorm today injured more than a dozen people, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 11 a.m. near Yermo, about 10 miles north of Barstow on Interstate 15, the main route between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Gale-force winds, reportedly near 50 m.p.h., had whipped up a furious sandstorm that had reduced visibility to five feet or less, California Highway Patrol Sgt. J. D. Jones said.

Two Greyhound buses, a semi-truck and at least seven other vehicles, all traveling north toward Las Vegas, were involved in the crash.
