Cleveland’s Bernie Kosar, who has a chipped bone in his thumb, will miss the Browns’ game at Pittsburgh on Sunday and probably won’t play next week at Cincinnati.

Receiver Lionel Manuel was waived for what New York Giant officials described as an attitude problem. A team spokesman said Manuel had been late for several practices and has fallen asleep in some meetings. . . . Miami Athletic Director Sam Jankovich reportedly has agreed to become director of football operations for the New England Patriots, according to the Boston Herald.
