Chevron to Take $220-Million Charge: The San Francisco-based energy company said it will take the after-tax charge against its fourth-quarter earnings. It stems from the disposal of its fertilizer operations. Chevron expects bidding to close during the first quarter and the sale to be completed by the end of next year. Chevron’s Chemical Fertilizer division has 600 employees.
