Appeals Court Backs Eastern’s Pilots: Pilots at Eastern Airlines who were displaced by new hires during an eight-month strike last year are entitled to their jobs and should be reinstated, a federal appeals court in Atlanta ruled in upholding a lower court decision. It could mean jobs for as many as 800 Eastern pilots, who have been sidelined since the strike ended in November, 1989, a union spokesman said.
