A Chula Vista man was found dead on a sidewalk early Thursday, apparently the victim of a stabbing, authorities said.
Police found the body of David Lewis Weaver, 33, on Oaklawn Avenue near where he lived, at 6:45 a.m., a police spokeswoman said.
At 1:45 a.m., police had responded to a call about a man screaming at Weaver’s apartment building, the spokeswoman said. They found blood stains in Weaver’s apartment but no one there.
Witnesses say a man and a woman ran from the apartment building, in the 600 block of Sea Vale Street, into a nearby canyon after the screaming started, the spokeswoman said. A check of local hospitals and a patrol of the area did not reveal any clues about what had happened.
