Laubacher was traveling west on South Mountain Road, east of Balcom Canyon Road at 8:40 a.m. Sunday. For unknown reasons, she drifted off the road, lost control and skidded across both lanes of traffic. She hit Tom Moore, 75, of Santa Paula, who was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt and driving a full-sized pickup truck.
