Quakes Hit Taiwan; No Damage Reported

TAIPEI, Taiwan —
A strong earthquake shook northeastern Taiwan on Tuesday night but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, authorities said.
The Central Weather Bureau said the quake had a magnitude of 6.2. The epicenter was 7 1/2 miles south of the eastern city of Hualien, 108 miles southeast of the capital Taipei.
