Discarded Trees to Be Accepted for Recycling
LONG BEACH —
Even Christmas trees are recyclable.
For the first time, Long Beach residents can have their discarded trees picked up by the city for recycling, if they set them out the same day as their regular trash collection service next week.
Between Dec. 31 and Jan. 4, trucks will make the rounds in Long Beach picking up Christmas trees to be composted or used for a county landfill project.
Residents do not need to remove wooden stands, but trees over 12 feet tall should be cut in half, according to city officials.
