Boosted by “Monday Night Football” and Dolly Parton, ABC found itself in first place last week in the prime-time ratings. Figures released Thursday showed ABC winning with an average 12.6 rating (each point represents 931,000 homes), compared to 11.9 for NBC and 11.7 for CBS. The pro football game between the Rams and San Francisco 49ers was the No. 2 show of the week behind “Cheers” on NBC, with ABC’s “Dolly Parton: Christmas at Home” finishing a strong fourth. * “Sex in the Soviet Union” proved to be an alluring topic for many viewers. The Ted Koppel documentary, which ranked 36th among the week’s 90 prime-time programs, was first in its Wednesday time slot for ABC opposite “Christmas in Washington,” a musical hour on NBC, and “WIOU” on CBS.
