HOT WHEELS: Although Newport Beach police reported breaking up a ring specializing in stealing Porsches (B1), that’s not likely to make a dent in the stolen-car business here. Orange County ranks third in the state in numbers of cars reported stolen: 18,429 through October. (L.A. is first, San Diego second.) The CHP says the most popular target was not the big-ticket Porsche but the 1988 Hyundai Excel.
