BOWL UPDATE : FIESTA : Quarterback Edge to Louisville
When Howard Schnellenberger was at Miami, he had such outstanding quarterbacks as Jim Kelly and Bernie Kosar.
Now in his sixth season at Louisville, he has another good one--Browning Nagle.
Nagle is 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds and can throw a football nearly 90 yards. In two years since transferring from West Virginia, he has passed for 16 touchdowns per season and a total of 4,653 yards, with 2,150 this year. He completed nearly 56% of his passes (146 of 263) while leading the No. 18 Cardinals to a 9-1-1 season and their first bowl game since 1977.
His counterpart on Tuesday, Alabama’s Gary Hollingsworth, finished the regular season with 1,463 yards, 13 interceptions and only four touchdowns.
