Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : Agent’s Arrest Spurs Secret Service Probe

The Secret Service has begun an internal investigation of an agent charged with stealing a $280 ski jacket in Vail, Colo., when assigned to protect Vice President Dan Quayle, a spokesman said. The agent, Joyce Fletcher, 39, of Washington, was accused of stuffing the jacket into her shopping bag in a clothing store in the trendy ski resort last Thursday. She was charged with misdemeanor theft and released after posting a $300 bond.
