Splitting Hairs: An Oklahoma City television news anchorman successfully sued a station he had left, but was still under contract to, for failing to reimburse his $995 bill for new clothes and a new toupee. Jack Bowen had been the anchor on CBS affiliate KWTV from 1987 until last June when he left after a stalemate on his contract. Shortly thereafter, he bought the clothes and wig and just after that, got a job with a rival station, ABC affiliate KOCO. A county judge ruled that the station had to honor its contractual allowances and reimburse Bowen for hair and clothes as his contract didn’t expire until August. The whole affair got ugly, with local newspapers revealing Bowen’s $147,300 salary and his undercover baldness.
