The three MTV-style videos for 1990’s hottest new female vocal group aren’t much to begin with, but wait until you see the “bonus” features. The 15-minute collection opens with what apparently was the TV commercial for the trio’s debut album and continues with a series of brief remarks from the trio that are as superficial as the music. “I think it was the most exciting video because it was our first video,” reveals Chynna Phillips, setting the tone for what is to follow. Then again, what would you say about these videos? The only concept in “Hold On” is the trio singing in locales ranging from snow-capped mountains to a beach, while in the spunkier “Impulsive” the singers seem to be working from a script rejected by the Bangles.
