Sockers management met with Branko Segota on Monday and discussed the midfielder’s decision to spend last week in Yugoslavia while the rest of the team practiced.

Afterward, Ron Cady, team president, issued a one-sentence statement that read: “Branko Segota has been fined the maximum under club work rules.”

Cady was unavailable for comment and Coach Ron Newman appeared eager to move ahead.

“We put the matter to rest and that’s it,” he said. “Now we have to get him back into shape.”

When asked what was said at the meeting, Newman replied, “Branko was probably prepared for a heavy fine and not much was said, really.”

Segota was unavailable for comment.
