Judge Lowers Award in Kodak Patent Case: U.S. District Judge A. David Mazzone decided to reduce a landmark $909.5-million award against Rochester, N.Y.-based Eastman Kodak Co., which was found liable for infringing on Polaroid Corp.’s patent for instant photography. Cambridge, Mass.-based Polaroid said Mazzone decided to trim the award by $36 million because of errors in calculating the original judgment. The resulting $873-million award is still believed to be the largest such award in history.
