Country Music to Air Again on KCSN-FM

KCSN-FM, which switched formats from country to classical music 14 months ago, will add a new two-hour country music show every Saturday morning from 6 to 8 a.m., beginning this weekend, station general manager Ken Mills said.

Mills said the show, “Country Sunrise,” will feature music and interviews with local country musicians.

“It will be similar to what the old format was,” said Mills. “I’ve been surprised by the fact more people haven’t picked up country programming since we changed formats. I feel there’s been more of a need for it.”

He added KCSN, (88.5), which is licensed to Cal State Northridge, will continue its current five hours of Bluegrass music from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The new show, he said, will replace public affairs programming, which will be moved to another time.

The station received a lot of criticism from country fans when it changed formats, but Mills said the new show is not an effort to appease the community. “We feel people have come to accept our new format,” he said.
