MEN’S BASKETBALL
Point Loma Nazarene blew leads of 10 and five points and lost to The Master’s College, 85-82, at home. Steve Riddle had 23 points and nine rebounds, game highs in both categories, as the Crusaders fell to 9-10. The Master’s, led by Tom Bruner’s 16 points, improved to 11-6.
Christian Heritage took a two-point lead with 10:03 to play, but Azusa Pacific switched defenses en route to a 72-61 victory at Azusa Pacific. Rob Metter led the Hawks (4-13), losers of five consecutive games, with 17 points.
Led by Dave Walker’s 15 points, Azusa Pacific (11-8) won its third in a row.
Christian Heritage went 2 for 14 from 12:03 to 2:53, while Azusa Pacific went on a 19-6 run and took a 63-52 lead with 2:53 left.
MISC. HONORS
Arizona State golfer Phil Mickelson, Charger Marion Butts and Padre Bip Roberts were named Stars of the Year by the San Diego Hall of Champions and the three will be honored during an awards dinner Feb. 19 at the Town and Country Convention Center.
