Robert L. Cheny, a 30-year volunteer member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Assn., recently assumed the presidency of the organization and announced “Voyages of Discovery” will be the theme of next year’s 103rd Rose Parade.

Cheny, a 53-year-old retired aerospace engineer and businessman, said “I thought about all the discoveries which have changed and improved our lives over the centuries, especially since Columbus took his three tiny ships to sea exactly 500 years ago, and I want to honor the pioneers who have pushed the boundaries of science, technology, the arts and education.”
