SIMI VALLEY : Hospital Begins Use of Renovated Wing

Simi Valley Adventist Hospital moved patients Friday into its newly remodeled medical and surgical wing, part of an ongoing hospital renovation project.

The 215-bed hospital is the only such medical facility in Simi Valley.

The remodeling of the 34-bed medical and surgical wing began in October,hospital spokeswoman Kimberly Cortner said.

Since the closure of the wing, patients have been accommodated in the hospital’s North Unit, adjacent to the main hospital in the 2900 block of Sycamore Drive, she said.

The $600,000 renovation included the addition of specially designed supply and medication cabinets in each room, a new centralized nursing station as well as new wall coverings, carpets and flooring.

The improvements are designed to “create the atmosphere of homelike comfort and care,” hospital officials said.

Renovation will continue in early February and include more patient rooms, hallways and other areas, Cortner said. The renovation of the rest of the hospital, which will cost $1.4 million, is expected to be completed by July.
