Shutdown of Eastern Airlines Held Imminent

Eastern Airlines was planning to halt operations at midnight Friday, a source close to the airline said. Although it has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings for nearly two years, Eastern has been operating 800 flights daily.
