Education Quackery

Share

When all else is said and done, the issue of teaching creationism as science is a matter of truth in advertising (“Degrees without Darwin,” Jan. 6).

When it is suggested to the creationists that they simply call their degrees “creation science” rather than science, they balk, saying that they are doing science in a Christian context. Yet, when qualified scientists determine that such groups are neither teaching nor doing science, and they are threatened with closure, they cry infringement of religious freedom. So . . . which is it science or religion? Maybe in the coming year we can look forward to courses in faith healing offered under the guise of medicine.

We do not tolerate quackery in the issuing of medical degrees; why do we tolerate it in science?
