BIG WEST ROUNDUP : Utah State Routs Fresno State

Fresno State, which trailed Utah State the entire game after the first two minutes, pulled to within seven points midway through the second half but could get no closer as the Aggies finished with an 18-5 run to rout the Bulldogs, 91-69, in a Big West Conference game Saturday night at Logan, Utah.

Trailing 8-4 two minutes into the game, the Aggies used a 19-4 run to take a 23-12 lead with 9:19 left in the first half. Allen Gordon drove the length of the court to score a layup at the buzzer to give Utah State a 38-28 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs countered with a 10-1 run to pull to within 53-46 with 11:56 left, with Tod Bernard and Wilbert Hooker each scoring five points, but the Aggies regained control.

Kendall Youngblood scored 21 points to lead the Aggies (7-8 overall, 4-2 in the Big West). Bernard had 21 points for the Bulldogs (7-10, 2-6).

Pacific 62, San Jose State 44--The Tiger defense held the Spartans to only two points over the final 9:42 at San Jose.

Don Lyttle scored 19 points to lead Pacific (8-9, 4-4). Terry Cannon had 14 points for San Jose State (4-12, 2-5).
