IRVINE : City to Get Update on Super-Street Plan

Share

County officials heading the Irvine Center Drive-Moulton Parkway super-street plan will update the City Council today on the state of the plan and outline the dates for future public hearings.

The super-street plan, funded by the half-cent sales tax approved by voters in November, would renovate Irvine Center Drive through Irvine with turn lanes, coordinated traffic signals and other improvements to ease congestion.

The Irvine Center Drive-Moulton Parkway stretch is one of three super-streets in the advanced-planning stage in Orange County. The others are Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue.

“This is a preview of a lot more work to come,” said Manuel Gomez, Irvine’s senior transportation engineer.

A series of public hearings will be scheduled in February on the Irvine super-street plan.
