After getting $4,800 in cash from the teller, the man fled. A short time later, police spotted the suspect as he was driving south on the San Diego Freeway near the Laguna Freeway, a police spokesman said.

Officers from Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Irvine, the California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Department assisted Garden Grove officers in following and pulling over the car.

Bobby James Hickox, 37, was being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion of robbery. His bail was set at $50,000.

Police said the stolen money was found inside Hickox’s car.
