Drysdale Arrested for Drunk Driving After Collision With Another Car

Dodger broadcaster Don Drysdale was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic accident near Universal City Monday night, police said Tuesday.

Drysdale’s car collided with another as the Hall of Fame pitcher made a left turn at about 8:30 p.m., Tom Ohmer of the Los Angeles Police Dept. said. Drysdale, 54, was not injured, but the driver of the other vehicle, a 24-year-old woman whose name was not released, suffered bruises and was treated at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Ohmer said.

Drysdale was given a Breathalyzer test and had a reading of 0.19%, according to Ohmer. That reading is more than double the 0.08% level at which a driver is considered legally drunk. Drysdale was booked on suspicion of felony drunken driving, Ohmer said. He posted $5,000 bail and was released later Monday night. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 11 in Los Angeles Municipal Court.
