Levi Straus Recalling Girls Belts: The Consumer Products Safety Commission reported that Levi Straus & Co. will recall an estimated 36,000 red leather belts for girls. The commission said a metal tip on some of the belts may detach. It is small enough to be swallowed by a child and could cause choking. The firm has received one complaint of a child starting to choke on a metal tip, although the child was not injured, the commission said. The belts were sold nationwide last summer and last fall along with two styles of the company’s “Little Levi’s” denim jeans and skirts, which were sold in sizes 2-4T and 4-6X. The belts were embossed with strawberry designs and had silver-colored metal trim.
