New Mexico State Beats San Jose State
Reggie Jordan scored 16 points and Chris Small added 15, all on three-point baskets, to lead No. 23 New Mexico State to an 88-58 Big West Conference victory over San Jose State Thursday night.
The Aggies (14-2, 6-1) took the lead for good with 10:39 remaining in the first half. They were ahead, 38-28, at halftime and led by as many as 35 points in the second half, 77-42 with 4:57 left.
Randy Brown added 12 points for the Aggies and William Benjamin and Ron Putzi had 10 each.
Chad Higginbotham had 12 points for San Jose State (4-13, 2-6). Terry Cannon added 11 and Mike Wasserburger 10.
The Aggies forced 21 turnovers and had a 49-31 rebounding edge. Brown and Jordan each had eight, and San Jose State’s starting center, 6-foot-7 Kevin Logan, had three.
