Lee Trevino says an expanded field of five increases the fear factor this weekend in the Senior Skins Game. “In this kind of thing, the only pressure is the pressure not to get shut out,” he said. “And with five playing, somebody is going to get shut out. You can bank on it.”

There is usually a four-man field for the two-day, 18-hole, made-for-TV event to be played at the Mauna Lani resort at Kohala Coast, Hawaii. But this year’s field was expanded to five because of a tie in the voting for two spots. Arnold Palmer was an automatic selection as the defending champion, and Gary Player was the choice of the sponsors. Two more players were to be picked by a panel, but the voting resulted in a tie among Trevino, Jack Nicklaus and Chi Chi Rodriguez.
